Overview
The Namugongo Martyrs Shrine commemorates the 22 young men executed by Kabaka Mwanga II in 1886 for refusing to renounce their Christian faith. The striking circular basilica and the Anglican shrine nearby draw over a million pilgrims annually on June 3rd, but are profoundly moving year-round.
