The UAE's quieter east coast.
Fujairah sits on the UAE's east coast, facing the Gulf of Oman rather than the Persian Gulf — which means natural reef diving, calmer beaches, and the dramatic Hajar Mountains right at your back. The drive in from Dubai is one of the prettiest in the UAE. Use Fujairah as a 2–3 night decompression add-on to a Dubai or Sharjah city break, or as a weekend escape for residents.
Who it's for
Couples and families wanting beach-and-mountain pairing, divers, and travellers tacking on a quiet finish to a UAE city break.
Best time to visit
October to April. Mountain hiking is fine November to March; the sea stays swimmable most of the year.
Famous fringing reef just off the beach for shore snorkelling and diving.
Wadi Wurayah, Al-Bidya mosque (the UAE's oldest), and dramatic mountain switchbacks.
The UAE's oldest standing fort, restored as a heritage site.
Le Méridien Al Aqah, Fairmont Fujairah, InterContinental Fujairah — all on the Gulf of Oman.
Dhow charters along the Musandam fjord coastline.
