When the Empire of Japan assaulted the British bastion of Singapore during World War II, it resulted in the Battle of Singapore, also known as the Fall of Singapore. The campaign was brief, intense, and swift. Although Australia's involvement included RAN ships and RAAF units, most of the fighting happened on land, in the southern Malayan state of Johore and on Singapore Island. Of Australia's pledges, this one is most likely the least well-known, remembered primarily for the dreadful and protracted period of incarceration that ensued after the surrender. Our local battlefield specialists, who are extremely knowledgeable about all the conflicts and sites in Singapore, lead this fascinating day tour. Through the eyes of a soldier, the significance of every combat location is completely exposed and brought to life for you.
